Students Discover the World of Reading at the Local Library

Over the past few weeks, Primary Education students, from 1st to 6th grade, have taken part in an enriching visit to the local library. Each group attended at different times over several weeks, allowing for a closer and more personalised experience adapted to each class.

During these visits, students had the opportunity to learn first-hand how the library works, an essential space for encouraging a love of reading. They discovered how books are organised, how they are classified, and how to find those that interest them most. They were also informed about how to obtain a library card, encouraging them to make use of this service and enjoy reading beyond the school environment.

This year’s visit was centred around a very special theme: Gulliver’s Travels. Through this classic story, students explored its plot and characters, sparking their curiosity for adventure literature and encouraging their imagination. The explanations were adapted to each age group, ensuring understanding and engagement for all students.

To conclude the activity, students took part in a range of creative tasks related to the theme. Through artistic and hands-on activities, they were able to represent scenes, characters, and elements from the story, developing their creativity while reinforcing what they had learned in a fun and engaging way.

Overall, it was a highly enriching experience that brought students closer to the library and fostered an interest in reading from an early age.

Without a doubt, an activity that helps to shape young readers for the future.
